This year’s X Factor will be very different to the series that came before it.
There have already been reports that Simon Cowell is considering a huge overhaul for the show.
However, it seems as though the changes are already happening as it’s been claimed that the show’s auditions have been cancelled.
It’s been reported that the next series of the singing contest has been left in limbo after it was revealed that the auditions wouldn’t be taking place.
There have been rumours that there would be All Stars and Celebrity versions of the show, and that the show’s producers are now considering their options.
Last year’s X Factor suffered their lowest ratings in 14 years, and they’re now trying to come up with new ways of bringing in more viewers.
This has lead to reports that the show might not air in 2019. However, an insider revealed to the Daily Mirror: “The X Factor has not been axed and will be back on ITV later this year.”
One venue which was going to host some of the auditions only just found out about the cancellation and they’ve been left in a difficult situation.
A spokesperson for Garden Den, the venue in question, said: “We heard a couple of weeks ago that ITV were umming and ahhing about the new series.
“But we had no official confirmation from the production team at all.
“We had a whole event planned around it, with about 60 acts lined up to audition. We spent a lot of money putting things together.
“Thing is, they don’t pay to use your venue, they just expect it, and in return, you get the publicity.
“The event was meant to be next week, and we finally got confirmation a couple of days ago. But it wasn’t a statement or anything, literally just a phone call and that was it. They said the X-Factor is ‘not being aired, there won’t be any auditions’, nothing at all. It’s been pulled.
“They said Simon Cowell has other ideas, like a winner of winners competition, or a celebrity version of the show. But all auditions across the country have been cancelled at the last minute while they decide what they are doing with it.”
The spokesperson finished: “And there still hasn’t been an official statement from them, or even a press release. We’ve had no guidance on what to say. And heard nothing since they hung up the phone.”
