Tiger Woods shoots nightmare 78 at The Open amid reports he will seek immediate treatment for his back
TIGER WOODS shot a nightmare first-round 78 at The Open amid reports he will receive immediate treatment on his back.
Woods, who has undergone four operations on his back, appeared to wince after his first tee shot and things got no better from there.
He bogeyed the last to shoot a dismal seven over, only one more than Rory McIlroy, and sits 12 shots behind leader JB Holmes.
Woods started with four pars before making five bogeys from the fifth and another dropped shot followed on the 14th.
His only bright spot was a birdie on the par 4 15th and he finished with another bogey.
But Sky Sports commentators speculated all day that Woods looked in some discomfort and one prominent golf journalist reported Woods was to seek back treatment before deleting the post.
