The Crown has gathered a huge base of passionate fans over the past few years.
As the Netflix hit has grown in popularity and scale, so has the excitement surrounding the announcement for its third outing.
The upcoming third season for the royal show is going to be a big one as it is going to introduce a brand new cast, signifying a time jump for the characters.
The next outing will see star Josh O’Connor take over as a young Prince Charles.
In conversation with ES magazine, the Prince Charles star spilled on how he is getting on with his new role.
The star was quick to reveal he knew his luck was in as soon the word of recasting was out, all due to one simple element that fans may find amusing.
Josh has ears that have a striking resemblance to the notorious sticky-out ears of Prince Charles.
“I did think immediately, ‘Who’s gonna play Charles?’ I don’t know anyone my age who’s got these,” he told the publication. “They’re not huge but they stick out.”
However, the star soon found the role has a lot more to it than a pair of prominent ears.
Once he’d bagged the dream role, he quickly realised it would be a lot more difficult than he thought.
He explained: “The first thing I learned is that it’s totally impossible to replicate the real man. I don’t know who he is, none of us do.”
However, the young star has already mastered some of the Prince’s most memorable qualities.
The actor noted the Prince walks ”like a tortoise” and he already has it ”down to a T”.
The star went on to say he thoroughly enjoyed filming The Crown, especially working with a certain Oscar winner.
He says: “You have to stop yourself mid-way through a scene and be like, ‘I’m acting with Olivia Colman!’
“But then she’s also got this amazing thing where they call ‘cut’ and she’s like, ‘Shall we have a cup of tea?'”
“They say never find out what your heroes are like in real life but I’m not sure what could be more perfect than that.”
The star may not have an easy job, but he certainly seems to have the support of his co-star Erin Doherty, who plays Princess Anne.
Last weekend Erin told fans the show is: “Knocking it out of the park,” and also added it is “spectacular”.
The Crown season 3 is expected to arrive on Netflix in 2019.
