REAL MADRID have made “initial contact” with Mohamed Salah over a stunning summer transfer, according to reports.
Canal+’s Philippe Carayon appeared on a TV show this week to make the revelation that boss Zinedine Zidane is understandably very keen on the Egyptian.
He said: “There have been some initial contacts between Real Madrid and Mohamed Salah.”
The surprise links come just a month after Spanish paper AS claimed Salah, 26, was demanding a transfer away from Anfield after falling out with Jurgen Klopp.
His agent may have rubbished the reports at the time but the French outlet insist the Spanish giants are lining up a move.
Any offer, though, would surely need to be in the region of the world-record £198million fee Paris Saint-Germain paid for Neymar in 2017.
Salah, who has scored 54 Premier League goals in the last two seasons, could give Real Madrid the firepower in attack they have lacked this season following Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure to Juventus.
Gareth Bale has struggled with form and injuries and, as revealed by SunSport this week, has been offered to Tottenham in a £10m loan with his £600,000-per-week wages split by Real Madrid and Spurs.
And that could free up a space for Salah to come in and try and regain the Champions League title they lost this season after three wins on the bounce.
Of course, Real Madrid are also set to sign Eden Hazard this summer.
The Chelsea winger, 28, has just one year left on his contract at Stamford Bridge and has told his current employers he has made his mind up.
Speaking after the 0-0 draw with Leicester on Sunday, the Belgian star said: “I have made my decision. Yes, I told the club a couple of weeks ago.”
But SunSport understands Hazard is fearful Chelsea’s transfer ban could leave his dream move in tatters.
Latest transfer news
It would seem, though, that Real Madrid’s intentions are clear: they want a world-class winger this summer.
Hazard and Salah are obviously two of the best in the world, let alone the Premier League, so it is little wonder they are high on Zidane’s transfer wishlist.
The chances of getting both seem unlikely, financially, but just the threat of Salah and Hazard lining up together will send shivers through La Liga defenders already.
