Man Utd ‘on verge of signing’ 16-year-old Lyon attacking midfielder Florent Da Silva with agreement at late stage
MANCHESTER UNITED are closing on a deal for Lyon starlet Florent Da Silva, according to reports in France.
The Red Devils are expected to make an “imminent” bid for the midfielder, whose contract with the Ligue 1 side expires next summer.
According to L’Equipe, United have shown some serious interest in signing Da Silva, 16.
Negotiations between the Red Devils and Lyon are believed to be at a “very advanced” stage.
United want to buy out the final year of his contract but an agreement is yet to be reached.
But Da Silva himself is still considering his options, trying to find “the best project” for his future.
The creative midfielder spent the last season playing in the French fourth division.
Although, he made two appearances in the Uefa Youth League against Ajax and Barcelona.
Da Silva – reportedly one of the brightest talents of Lyon’s academy – is yet to train with the first team.
But club president Jean-Michel Aulas still hopes he will convince the youngster to commit his future to the Ligue 1 side.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer continues to chase young, prospective players in order to secure United’s long-term future.
He has already added Dan James, 21, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, 21, to his squad.
