How England fans can celebrate with Cricket World Cup winning heroes at the Oval today

England won the World Cup on Sunday for the first time in their history after a dramatic victory over New Zealand.

The Three Lions needed a Super Over, and even then the victory was only decided by virtue of scoring more boundaries.

The celebrations went on long into the night at Lord’s with players seen leaving the ground in the early hours of Monday morning.

But the squad will be back in the capital later in the day as they head to the Oval.

A celebration is taking place at the Vauxhall ground from midday.

Gates are open for all at 10.30am, though the ECB are urging people to sign up here.

England captain Eoin Morgan says the World Cup triumph means the world to him and his squad.

He said: ”This has been a four-year journey, we’ve developed a lot over the course of those four years, particularly in the last two.

“We find it hard to play on wickets like that, like good teams do around the world but today it was about getting over the line.

“Sport is tough at times but to get over the line today means the world to us.

“It’s been an emotional changing room over the last couple of games.

“It means a huge amount to us, we’ve been so involved in everything that’s been going on and I think there would be something wrong if I didn’t feel a bit emotional.

“I’ve said incredible 50 times since lifting the trophy.

“The planning, hard work, dedication, commitment and the little bit of luck really did get us over the line.”
