Game of Thrones season 8 finale: Tyrion Lannister exposed BIG Drogon theory years ago
Game of Thrones has ended and it seems the complex web of storylines has finally been tied up.
Everyone wanted to know who would end up on the Iron Throne but it seemed in the end, it didn’t matter.
Drogon the dragon melted the coveted seat completely following the loss of his mother, Daenerys Targaryen (played by Emilia Clarke).
Many were taken aback he didn’t kill Jon Snow (Kit Harington) for the murder while he had the chance, but it seems Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) had predicted the moment a while back.
In Game of Thrones season six, episode two, Tyrion explained the intelligence of dragons.
He said: “Dragons are intelligent, more intelligent than men according to some Maesters.
“They have affection for their friends and fury for their enemies.”
As fans have seen, Drogon made the choice to spare Jon’s life, despite the latter being certain he was about to die a nasty death.
The fully-grown mystical animal had a free shot but decided to destroy the one thing that has really ruined Daenerys: the Iron Throne.
Many fans immediately flocked to Twitter to discuss how Drogon took the moral high-ground instead of causing more heartbreak.
One wrote: “Drogon burning the iron throne was poetic.”
Another added: “The Iron Throne; forged by Balerion the Black Dread and destroyed by Drogon. Jon may have stabbed Daenerys, but it was her hunger for power that killed her. By destroying the pinnacle of power in Westeros, Drogon broke the wheel and fulfilled his mother’s wishes.”
“This was the most heartbreaking scene. Drogon trying to wake his mom. Jon was ready to be roasted to ashes but Drogon went for that Iron Throne that caused all these. Besides what’s the need of killing whom his mom loved. Drogon so smart,” a third commented.
A fourth said: “Drogon didn’t just break the wheel, he BURNED it.”
A fifth tweeted: “Drogon: *sees knife in Daenerys* Drogon: *sees chair made of giant knifes* dId yOu dO ThiS 2 mY mOm?! The Audience: wow its so beautiful that Drogon understands the symbolism of the throne and doesn’t blame Jon but blames the symbol of power that made…”(sic)
Kit Harington has since reacted to the Game of Thrones finale and expressed his true feelings on Daenerys.
The actor spoke about the finale to Entertainment Weekly, saying: “One of my worries with this is we have Cersei and Dany, two leading women, who fall.
“The justification is: Just because they’re women, why should they be the goodies?
“They’re the most interesting characters in the show. And that’s what Thrones has always done.”
