EMMERDALE viewers were in tears last night as Chas asked dying Lisa Dingle to watch over her dead baby daughter.

It was revealed earlier this week that Lisa– played by Jane Cox- has Amyloidosis, the build up of abnormal protein called amyloid in tissue and organs.

Emmerdale’s Lisa and Chas had an emotional chat in the graveyard during last night’s episode

In last night’s episode, Lisa and Chas were seen speaking at baby Grace’s graveside as the ill character apologised for not being there for her niece when her baby tragically died last year.

“I’d have given anything to meet her,” said Lisa.

Chas replied: “Not in this world, hey. Maybe in the next?”

As the pair began to cry Chas questioned whether there is a heaven and asked Lisa if she could watch over her baby when she dies.

Lisa replied: “Of course I will love. I will tell her. But do you know what? She knows already.”

She said: “Can you do me a favour Lis? Will you find my Gracie and will you give her a massive kiss from her mummy and look after her for me?”

She added: “Will you tell her how much I love her?”

Crying, Lisa responded: “Of course I will love. I will tell her. But do you know what? She knows already.”

Chas and Lisa both burst into tears as they hugged each other tightly, and fans took to Twitter as they confessed that the scene had left them in tears too.

Jane Cox, 66, shocked fans earlier this month when she reprised her role of Lisa – returning to the Dales for her final scenes after it was announced that she will be leaving the ITV soap for good after 20 years.

The beloved character will be killed off after suffering from the terminal heart condition, and viewers think that her passing will coincide with a new arrival.

Chas and Paddy were overjoyed to learn that they are expecting again after being left devastated when their baby Grace died when doctors discovered that she was suffering from bilateral renal agenesis – which meant that she could not survive outside of the womb.

Taking to social media, fans shared their poignant prediction.

Another wrote: “Gonna guess that Lisa dies the same day Paddy and Chas’s baby is born…”

A third confidently claimed: “Lisa dies the same day as Chas has her baby.”

Lisa had not been seen in Emmerdale since last April, when the character moved to Scotland after suffering a health scare.

Actress Jane, who joined the soap in 1996, said of the upcoming departure: “Lisa is so close to my heart as she’s been such a huge part of my life.

“I know I’ll shed more than a few tears when it comes to filming her final scenes.

“But I’m really looking forward to giving the character a deserving farewell. I will miss her.”
