But they were thrilled to learn Chas was expecting once more not long after Grace’s funeral and they’re looking forward to raising a baby together.
However, as they prepare for their new arrival, the couple will receive some bad news about the Woolpack which means they won’t have the easiest time in the coming weeks.
Chas and Paddy will learn the beloved village pub has dry rot, which needs to be sorted out immediately.
The news will no doubt mean the pair have to move out of the pub while it’s repaired.
Having to move out and find somewhere safe to live is likely to be stressful for Chas, who also runs the Woolpack as a business.
Things will become even more difficult when Charity (Emma Atkins) puts a plan into action to stop the Dingle family from losing money.

The businessman has been warned he could spend the rest of his life behind bars but he’s kept this news from Aaron.
Aaron has assured his husband they’ll be able to manage a year apart but it seems they could be separated for good.
Robert isn’t keen on being locked up – could he turn to his brother Andy (Kelvin Fletcher) to help him evade justice?
Andy is currently on the run himself after he was framed for trying to shoot Lawrence White last year.
Robert assisted in helping his brother escape prison so could Andy do the same for him?
If he was to run away and leave the village, Aaron would be devastated as they’re currently planning to find a surrogate.
Aaron is looking forward to starting a family with Robert but little does he know his dream is about to be over very soon.
