EASTENDERS’ new Ben Mitchell hung out with the actor who used to play the character over the weekend and fans couldn’t believe it.
Max Bowden recently took over from Harry Reid on the BBC One soap in a shock recasting but the pair showed there are no hard feelings as they joined Jamie Borthwick (who plays Jay) on a night out.
Sharing a picture of himself with his arms around the pair, Jamie wrote: “Don’t worry everyone, we’re all friends. so happy I can share this moment with my Ben brother. #BenMitchell #Ben10. @harryreidactor @bowden5”
His followers loved the snap and rushed to comment on it, with one person adding: “Awwww new Ben and old Ben in a Jay sandwich.”
While another added: “Wow absolutely love this pic of you 3 angels.”
And someone else wrote: “I’m certain that this is a picture that everyone was hoping to see. And what a lovely picture it is too.”
Harry left the show over a year ago and was surprised that the role was recast because he had previously been told that it wouldn’t be the case.
The star told Digital Spy: “They told me that they were going to recast him about a week before it was announced.
“To be honest, I was shocked because I didn’t expect that they were going to recast the role. I was told that they weren’t going to recast.
“But at the same time, it didn’t upset me, which is what a lot of the fans are saying. One particular fan called Elizabeth, who’s supported me a lot, posted, ‘I hate to think that Harry will be sat there upset about it’. I’m not and that’s what I want people to understand.”

He was later replaced by Joshua Pascoe.
