Two of Coronation Street’s oldest friends were locked in battle in last night’s episodes after a huge move by Roy (played by David Neilson) placed Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) in serious danger.
Roy’s friend Carla Connor (Alison King) is in hospital as she struggles with her mental health following the death of Rana Habeeb (Bhavna Limbachia) in the Underworld factory roof collapse.
After visits from Roy and dad Johnny Connor (Richard Hawley), Carla was desperate to see lover Peter and would do anything to see him in the ITV soap.
Fearing the worst and possibly losing Carla again, Roy implored Ken (William Roache) to take Peter out of rehab to come and visit the businesswoman.
Ken was angered by even the suggestion and told Roy in no uncertain terms he would not do it.
Then, unbeknown to Ken, Roy contacted Peter and brought him back to the hospital to meet with Carla.
Furious with one of his closest friend’s betrayal, Ken let rip at Roy: “You’ve jeopardised my son’s health and recovery.”
Roy said he understood his anger and asked for forgiveness, which only provoked Ken even more.
He yelled: “No you don’t understand because you’re not a father. You went against my wishes Roy and if anything happens to Peter I will never forgive you.”
Fans were furious and took to Twitter to have their own go at Ken for daring to criticise Roy.
One fan said: “Shut the f**K up Ken. Don’t you dare speak to Roy like that.”
Another added: “Excuse me, Ken. Leave Roy alone. He practically is Carla’s father.”
They were shocked Ken could be so cutting about one of his friends and especially because he was forced to take desperate measures.
He was also berated by son Peter who was desperate for news on Carla’s whereabouts and blamed his dad for not getting to Carla sooner.
His dad has been desperate to cut off all contact with Peter after he was sent to rehab because he slipped into his old ways after Carla went missing.
Marching into the pub, he laid into Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh) for keeping in contact with Peter about Carla’s whereabouts while he is in rehab.
Luckily for fans, the drama is set to continue in the coming weeks as the mystery behind Rana’s death is finally resolved.
The villain who caused the factory roof to collapse will be exposed to fans in a huge twist.
With Carla spiralling out of control, the news could clear her name or could tip her over the edge.
Fans were also shocked by Peter’s appearance as he looked like he had just come back off holiday and not from rehab.
Coronation Street continues Friday at 7.30pm on ITV.
