‘VIGILANTE JUSTICE’

According to South African police, the men were armed with a knife and a gun when they confronted the girls who had been walking through the area on the evening of Saturday 15.

An Ivory Park resident claims to have witnessed the horrific attack and rounded up an ‘angry mob’ of vigilante community members who decided to take justice into their own hands.

The vigilantes chased the three men ‘hacking off’ the testicles of one man and then beating him to death.

Two of the men managed to escape and a police search for them is ongoing.

Police spokesman colonel Lungelo Dlamini said, “allegations are that two girls who were walking to Lindokuhle informal settlement were confronted by suspects armed with a knife and a firearm.

“The suspects then raped them repeatedly.”

Police in the area are warning civilians against ‘taking the law into their own hands’ and have opened a murder investigation into the death of the alleged rapist.

However, no arrests of the local vigilantes have been made.
