Will there be a Bodyguard series 2?

Although it is yet to be confirmed, it is more than likely that the show will come back.

Series creator Jed Mercurio told the Daily Mirror: “I have got some ideas for a second series, but it is worth waiting until the run is finished to see which bits worked and which bits didn’t work for the audience.”

But a new series will have to wait until after the next series of Line of Duty – as Jed writes this as well.

On September 19, 2018, it was revealed that the BBC faces a fight to keep Bodyguard for season 2 as Netflix has bought the international distribution rights.

However this does signal that a second series is more than likely.

After the last episode ended on September 23, 2018, The Sun exclusively revealed that Jed is writing FOUR spin-off shows from Bodyguard.

However, in January 2019 lead actor Richard Madden said it won’t be until 2020, as “the crew need a break”.

The show won two National Television Awards for New Drama and Drama Performance on January 22, 2019.

What has the writer of Bodyguard said about series 2?

Although Jed confirmed he would be very interested in returning for another series, he accepts the ever rising popularity of actor Richard Madden means he may not have the chance.

“He’s the genuine article, a real leading man,” Mercurio told Radio Times. “And I think this role has put him very much in the spotlight for bigger things.

“So the practicality may be that we have to work around his availability if we are lucky to get him back.”

Jed is also the creator of BBC series Line of Duty whose fifth season was delayed as he was writing Bodyguard.

Is Julia Montague really dead in Bodyguard?

After Julia was killed in an explosion in episode four there had been much speculation that she was still alive.

The theory was strengthened after eagle-eyed fans spotted that Keeley Hawes was listed on the Internet Movie Database (IMDB.com) as appearing in the final episode.

But, there was no sign of her in the season finale and she is in fact really dead.

Is Bodyguard back for Red Nose Day?

Yes, Richard Madden has a new assignment to protect the Red Nose.

His new detail comes after he failed to protect Home Secretary Julia Montague in the hit show.

You can see how he gets on with his assignment during the Comic Relief 2019 fundraiser on BBC starting at 7pm.
