Aston Villa hope to complete the signing of teenage striker Louie Barry from Barcelona at the start of this week.
The 16-year-old only left West Brom for Barcelona last June and was well regarded by the Spanish side despite being the youngest member of their U19 squad.
However, changes in coaching personnel have left him unsettled and he has opted to return to England with Villa.
Louie Barry moved to Barcelona in the summer but could already be heading for the exit
Other clubs, including Tottenham, had shown interest but the England youth international is returning close to his former home.
Sportsmail revealed Villa’s move last week and the deal has angered West Brom who are taking legal advice and have spoken to the Football League amid concerns the route abroad and back home had been premeditated.
West Brom’s former academy manager, Mark Harrison, took up a similar position at Aston Villa in September.
Albion are still to receive the £135,000 compensation they are due from Barcelona and have reported them to FIFA.
